Annual Flu Shots
Are you planning on getting a flu shot this year? If so, according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) the best time to get your flu shot is in October and November before flu season gets started.
Do I have to pay for my flu shot?
Costco provides a free flu shot to all employees – even for employees who are not eligible for benefits. The standard immunization co-pay will apply for FluMist (the intra-nasal influenza vaccine) and Fluzone High-Dose vaccine (for persons 65 years of age and older).
Can my family members get their flu shot at Costco too?
Family members enrolled in the health plan can get their flu shot at a Costco Pharmacy with no co-pay. The standard immunization co-pay will apply for FluMist (the intra-nasal influenza vaccine) and Fluzone High-Dose vaccine (for persons 65 years of age and older).
Family members that are not enrolled in healthcare coverage would be required to use their own insurance coverage or pay the retail price ($18.99 for the influenza shot and $37.49 for the Fluzone High-Dose).
Important note: In general the pharmacy does not administer immunizations or flu shots to children under 12 and in some states it’s 18. A prescription from the child’s doctor may also be required. Be sure to call your pharmacy before you go to confirm their requirements for children.
