My Child is Going Away to College

Do you have a son or daughter who is leaving for college? Congratulations! Sending a student to college can be both exciting and stressful. You can rest easy knowing that your child is eligible for coverage through Costco’s Benefit Program until they reach age 26. It is important that your child know how to access their benefits while they are away from home. Below are several ways that your child can utilize their benefits and stay healthy on campus.

Request ID cards.  You can request an extra ID card for your child:

  • Medical (Aetna) 1-800-814-3543
  • Pharmacy (EnvisionRxOptions) 1-800-361-4542
  • Healthcare Reimbursement Account Debit Card (PayFlex) 1-877-261-9951
  • Teladoc 1-800-835-2362

Know your policy. Teach your student about the costs they may incur such as copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance. Make sure your student understands that Costco medical plan do not cover any out-of-network services or providers for regular care. There are some exceptions for medical emergencies. To find an in-network physician, hospital, or other provider in their area go to costcobenefits.com and click on Find a Provider or call Aetna.

Need to fill a prescription? Students can always use a Costco Pharmacy for prescriptions. A Costco Membership is not required. In the event that your student cannot access a Costco Pharmacy,  they can choose among  Costco’s designated network pharmacies. Go to costcobenefits.com to learn more. Costco Online Pharmacy at www.costco.com is another option for those with on-going maintenance medication needs.
